Does my trust need to be registered?

Most UK express trusts must be registered on HMRC's Trust Registration Service, even if no tax is due.

Who pays tax on trust income?

It depends on the type of trust. Trustees may pay tax, or income may be taxed on the beneficiaries.

What is a ten-year charge?

Many trusts pay an Inheritance Tax charge of up to 6% every ten years on the value above the nil-rate band.
